Restored 1970 Ontario plates from YOMplates.ca arrived today. Can’t wait to install them on the Cletus-Vette! I really think authentic license plates look the best on a classic car.

I agree, and I’m still kicking myself for not picking up a set when I was at a swap meet earlier this year.

My current plates look like the vinyl wrap or whatever the fuck they use to make the plates is lifting off the metal backing. What pieces of shit.

What year are you looking for?

I bought a set of unissued 1970 VA plates for the Jaguar when I registered it.
Did you have many to chose from? I found a dude that had hundreds of brand new sets from the 60s and 70s.

Just a set of ‘71 Washington plates. They don’t have fancy crowns on them or anything but they look better than the collector vehicle plates the state issues.

I just wanted a straight numeric one with no letters. I had about 4 to chose from on YOMplates.ca

Anything looks better than an old car with new plates

I don’t remember my other choices, but I think they were all numbers. I stared at them all trying to find one that wold be easy to remember or had some significance to the car.
I just grabbed the first one on the list the guy sent me.

You own an E-Type??? How have I never known this? I love the later series cars. We need to get our 1970 sports cars together! What city in Virginia are you in?

Lesson learned.
Step one: photoshop Hamilton’s head
Step two: ??!
Step three: collect E-type
——
Why aren’t you spamming use with e-type ness? I mean it's almost exactly like a celica but better in every way.

I don’t post many photos of it because I haven’t touched it in years.
“Hey everyone, look at the car I have in storage!” doesn’t make for a very good post.
I’m right outside of DC.

Because people would grow tired of looking at a car under a cover on dollies.

Hmmmm DC is only 9 hrs from me. What’s keeping it in storage? Does it need work?

I might have set, the correct ones for your car are white plates with green letters right? I have a couple sets off cars we have brought over into Oregon.

Yeah, they would look something like this

Oh got to have correct plates, Oregon stopped stamping years on the plates around 65/66. The Guy I bought my plates from though has year correct decals. I also find it funny in Oregon that they actually stamped a date for the 33s plates instead of just the year.

I’ll have to dig through some boxes, also try Jims vintage parts, he is the Oregon/Washington plate go to guy. Bought my 68 plates from him.

Had it on the road about 10 years ago, and was slowly making progress. I took it to a shop to have them look at a rear end noise, and they replaced a handful of u-joints, and replaced rear shocks as well. Freshened up the brakes (because inboard). If you drop the rear subframe, you do as much as you can.
Then I got it home, and realized a few weeks later that it was the differential instead of u-joints. I had just spent a shitload of money to fix everything else but the rear end.
I drove it for a little while longer, and put it away for the winter.
The next spring I bought a Mini, got married, bought another Vanagon a few years later, then another motorcycle......
I need to $lim down the fleet and focu$ on the Jag.

That’s pretty cool. Sadly, it’s not an option in my state :/
